I moved from Southern California to Baja, Mexico in 2017 with my then-husband (now ex — growth happens here!). We landed in San Miguel de Allende in 2020 and I am now living here happily single. I figured things out, built a strong circle of friends, got involved in charities, and fell in love with this city in a whole new way.

Living here single taught me things no guidebook ever could. I learned the neighborhoods, the rhythms of daily life, the cultural nuances, even dating! And just as importantly — how to create trusted, warm community.

 

San Miguel is an incredible place for single women who are ready for a rich, peaceful next chapter. There are also certain challenges that we face as immigrants and single women in another country.
